CFS Orientation

Mandatory Film School Orientation

At the beginning of each Fall and Spring semesters the Colorado Film School (CFS) holds a mandatory orientation for incoming students. This is a chance for new students to learn everything they will need to know before starting classes as well at meet and mingle with faculty and students.

The day will include an introduction to the school, a tour of the facilities, networking with other students and faculty, training on our equipment check out software, and of course food! There will also be advisors available to answers all of your questions.

Due to the nature of the networking and training opportunities we are providing for the students, we request that only registered students attend this event; no guests. We hope this will be a fun and informative start to your film career.

It is mandatory for all new CFS students to attend the Film School Orientation. Students who are unable to attend will need to withdraw for the semester and reapply for the following semester.

Students must be registered prior to Film School Orientation.

Note: There are two orientations:

  • CCA New Student Orientation (completed before registration – required only for first-time college students) – Read more.
  • Mandatory Film School Orientation (completed after registration – one scheduled day the week prior to semester start)

Come in the front door and someone will be there to direct you to the classrooms.

Lunch will be provided after the orientation.

Students are encouraged to bring something to take notes. We have free Wi-Fi for those wanting to use tablets or other electronic devices for notes.

Due to the limited space in the training rooms, we can only accommodate student attendance. There is not enough seating for guests.

Mandatory Set Safety & Culture Training

At the beginning of each Fall and Spring semesters the Colorado Film School (CFS) holds a mandatory set safety and set culture training for incoming students. This is a chance for new students to learn everything they will need to know about set etiquette, set expectations, set safety, inclusivity, discrimination and harassment policies, on-location shoot procedures, and more. This training is mandatory to complete before students will be permitted to shoot.

Completion of this training is required. If you are unable to complete this training, you will need to withdraw for the semester and reapply for the following semester.
