The narrative poem, Tam O’ Shanter: A Tale, was written by Robert Burns in 1790 and is considered to be the Scots bard’s greatest work. It is the perfect scary story for the Halloween season!

Participants will be sent the text of the poem in both the Scots dialect and the English equivalent. Students will also be supplied with audio/visual performances of the work on which to model their performances. The performance MUST be delivered in the Scots dialect/accent. Memorization is NOT required, but it is strongly recommended. Performances will be delivered in a small theater setting in front of a panel of judges.

The competition is being sponsored by members of the Scottish/Celtic community in Colorado.
